Plasidyne Engineering
and Manufacturing, Inc. Earns
ISO 9000 and AS9100
Certifications
Company's Advanced
Quality Management System Achieves ISO Registration
Long
Beach, CA, October 20, 2008 - Plasidyne Engineering and
Manufacturing, a provider of precision-machined PTFE and plastic
components for the commercial and aerospace industries, has achieved
ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 registration for its extensive quality
management system.
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is best known under the brand name
Teflon® developed by the DuPont Corporation. PTFE is typically used
for parts such as seals, bearings, insulators and back-up rings
requiring chemical inertness and good mechanical and electrical
properties up to 260 C (500 F), but usage is not limited to such
applications.
Working with its ISO consultant (Change Management Consulting),
Plasidyne was able to modify its quality system to comply with SAE
International Standard. SGS administered the registrar audit and
Plasidyne received both AS 9100 Rev. B and ISO 9001:2000 on their
first attempt. Plasidyne's Audit Report Summary and Scoring Data can
be found in the OASIS database (www.iaqg.org/oasis) maintained by
the International Aerospace Quality Group.
With nearly four decades of experience, Plasidyne Engineering and
Manufacturing, Inc. employs a variety of high-technology equipment
to develop and produce close tolerant PTFE and plastic parts. Its
clients include both major aerospace companies and commercial
organizations. The company performs everything from rapid
prototyping to large-volume manufacturing. Over the years,
Plasidyne's reputation for quality and on-time delivery has allowed
it to become a financially sound and secure company with an
outstanding reputation among its customers.
Kevin Sutherland, Plasidyne’s president, states "Achieving AS9100
certification is a milestone for Plasidyne Engineering and
Manufacturing. It reflects our strong commitment to providing
high-quality products to our customers. With our rigorous quality
management system and environmentally-controlled inspection
facilities, customers can rest assured that they will receive
products that meet even the most strenuous specifications."
Plasidyne enjoys an outstanding reputation within the industry and
among its customers. Over the years, the company has grown by being
able to adjust to the constant changing needs of the plastics
industry. Advances in computer technology have allowed Plasidyne to
use its large number of precision CNC machines to produce
high-quality plastic parts at volume manufacturing levels.
"Plasidyne represents a growing trend among manufacturers to embrace
formal quality management standards," states Stanley Cherkasky,
CMC's managing partner. "They have demonstrated that making quality
management an intricate piece of the manufacturing process pays huge
dividends for everyone's bottom line - customers and manufacturers
alike. We are pleased to lend our ISO 9001 and AS9100 expertise to
help a company of Plasidyne's caliber standardize their quality
policies and procedures. I know this achievement will yield
considerable benefits to their clients."
